The LONE TREE at ZAPATA
Colorado. It's April 30th and it's been a dry spring down in south-central Colorado. Most of the snow has left the Crestone Range and its several 14-ers. From this perspective one can't get a sense that the enormous 'pile of sand' in the middle distance is the 750+ high Great Sand Dunes National Park. The only tree in sight has sunk its roots into a crease in the land that channels moisture to it so it can survive the hard winters and the dry summers. Prints nicely to 36" on the long dimension.
